The Yello Dyno Puppet: Although the Safety Party can be taught without the Yello Dyno puppet, the best way to teach this curriculum is with the puppet because kids love characters. Yello Dyno represents positive social values and dependability. The Yello Dyno character has been carefully designed by children, child professionals, and professional character designers. He is a rock solid character who delivers fun and unforgettable safety awareness to children. Kids feel safe and fall in love with "that Purveyor of Protection, that foot stompin', tail thumpin' Safety Maven `O Soul...YELLO DYNO!"

Yello Dyno Pro 1 Video Lessons: The Safety Party is best taught with the first and second video lessons on Pro Video 1. However, if you are teaching the lesson in a single class, including these two video clips adds about 15 minutes, with discussion, which makes the lesson too long. However, if you are teaching the lessons two at a time over four classes, then adding the Pro Video 1 clips is a valuable addition and reinforces long-term memory recall.

Note: the Safety Party is more expensive because of the 31 laminated flash cards and the Safety Party CD that are included in this curriculum.

This curriculum is being revised and we are recommending that it be used in 2nd grade if you are teaching Yello Dyno every year. It is taught mainly through music and the Yello Dyno Sez game.

New lessons taught in this curriculum:
1. Help Me Operator! (Dialing 911 and the Operator, plus a section on cell phones).
2. Know your emergency information.  (Teaching children to remember their full name and their parents’ or guardians’ full names, address, and home phone number, including the area code. Includes take home info for parents to use with their children for planning, if there is an emergency.)
3. If your parents get lost. (Teaching children what to do if they are lost.)

The Yello Dyno Puppet: The Can’t Fool Me! curriculum does not have a CD of Yello Dyno’s voice, but teachers generally include the Yello Dyno puppet  when teaching this curriculum.

Flash cards:  Some of the flash cards used in the Safety Party are also nice to use as reinforcement with this curriculum.

Yello Dyno Pro 1 Video lessons:
Lessons  1 and 2  can be used with The Safety Party  Curriculum but is always used with the Can’t Fool Me! Curriculum.
Lessons 3, 4 and 5 are for the Can’t Fool Me! Curriculum.

The Tricky People Lesson in All Curricula
Tricky People, Identifying Deceptive Behavior is the first of the three core fundamentals of the Yello Dyno Method™. The Tricky People Lesson is taught throughout all the curricula as recognizing deceptive behavior. It is very important. If a child does not recognize he is in danger, then it doesn’t matter what rules we have taught him.

Repeating Lessons at Different Ages
Since so little time is given to personal safety in a school year, it is important to review and increase understanding of the fundamental lessons as children’s understanding matures. More discussions and role-playing are a natural addition.
